Ose, Norway

by Ose Family
(Echo, Minnesota)

Ose, Norway

Ose, Norway

Ose, Norway...the place it all began for many of us Ose's here in America. Great grandpa, Einar, moved there, taking the name Ose (mouth of the river) as his own and shedding the once Ville which distinguished him before moving. Einar had a flock of kids and one of them was grandpa Knute, who decided to come to America when he was 18 years old. He never went home again, saw his mother again, or the siblings which remained behind. Elert, a brother, also immigrated to America and they lived near one another in Echo, Minnesota. Knute and Hannah settled on a lovely farm and had their own healthy broad, one of which was my father, Clarence, who was lucky enough to also live on the farm and raise his four wonderful children on the home place. So, you see, the tiny town of Ose, Norway, between Volda and Orsta is pretty special to us.
