Montanans who have family members serving in Iraq, Kuwait or Afghanistan can schedule a free videoconference through Montana State University's Extended University.
Facilities are available in Iraq at Camp Baharia, Camp Taji, Camp Taqaddum, Al Asad Airbase and Camp Victory. In Kuwait, soldiers can connect from Camp Arifjan and Ali Al Saleem Airbase; and soldiers in Afghanistan can connect from Bagram Airfield.
MSU's Burns Technology Center donates the staff and equipment to make the Montana end of the conference possible, while the Freedom Calls Foundation, a national non-profit, organizes the international end of the conference. The BTC uses a high-bandwidth connection and a large screen that can accommodate a group of family members.
