Just found out I am descended from William 1 of Normandy. Norwegians landed in France and intermarried about 400 AD. Later invaded England and took the crown from Harold at Hastings in 1066 AD. American system of law comes from William's legacy. My uncle William also was in Normandy at D day 1945 in the army. Little did he know he was defending his ancestral land.
