Emily Studied in Guatemala in the Spring of 2003

Guatemala '03 -- Debrief Weekend

Guatemala '03 -- Debrief Weekend

Emily and I were two of 21 members of the Guatemala study abroad team from Bethel University in the Spring of 2003. Emily worked with Tito and Diana on a community health team that traveled to small towns and provided health and nutrition education during our 4 months in the country. Her team members were Lauren and Alisha.

My memories of Emily are all connected by the word "caregiver." Her gentleness and consistency made her an easy person to go to when we needed encouragement or an understanding ear. We could always depend on her to be present and willing to help with any and everything that came up in the course of a day in the life of college students living abroad. She was empathetic, kind, and rarely without a smile.
