Emily is My Oldest Cousin

by Sara Dahnke
(Iowa City, Iowa)

I never got to see Emily as much as I would of liked due to the distance between us, but I certainly heard of her stories, her new adventures and her accomplishments. I remember as a child getting to listen to her play piano and giggling when we saw her parents kiss in the kitchen. I was lucky enough to get to see her for the first time in years at my sisters graduation party this past spring. My family enjoyed a couple of hours of stories and laughs. We were lucky that God gave us those few hours to catch up and see her. I know that she is in heaven and God needed another angel. I've always looked up to her, just from now on I'll just have to tilt my head a little higher. On my drive home New Years day I noticed a rainbow in the sky that stayed there the entire two hours I was driving. I couldn't help but think that she was there with us.

Love,

Sara and our family
