David Krejci is mired in a six-game pointless streak. But if he needed a little pick-me-up, he got one yesterday morning.
Krejci said he received a welcome wake-up call from his mother, who told him he had been selected for the Czech Republic Olympic team.
After undergoing hip surgery last June, Krejci put in the rehab work and somehow got himself ready for the Bruins
team stats’ Oct. 1 season opener. As can be expected, he’s had a somewhat up-and-down campaign (7-12-19 totals in 37 games), but he gave himself a chance to make the Olympic squad - and he’s shown enough to do just that.
“I didn’t work all summer just to make the Olympic team. I wanted to have as good a year as I had last year and, then, who knows what would happen?” said Krejci, who did some good work on the final goal in last night’s 4-0 win over the Atlanta Thrashers but did not register a point. “I just wanted to come back and be the same player. This is a plus that I made the team. It’s something I dreamed about when I was little, to represent my country.”
