Colombian woman gets six months for airport disturbance
A 30-year-old woman, Sandra Figueroa Fernandez, of the Republic of Colombia, appeared in court on Friday to answer a charge of unlawful disturbance.
After the charge was read to her she pleaded guilty and the facts were presented to the court. The magistrate explained to her the seriousness of her behaviour and issued a very stern warning then sentenced her to six months imprisonment.
The incident occurred about 11am on February 16 at the George FL Charles Airport, as Fernandez was preparing to board a LIAT flight, bound for Trinidad and Tobago. During the screening process, a black clock was noticed in her luggage and the authorities questioned her about it. She stated that the clock was in fact a bomb.
