Cocaine hidden in roses...
Customs officials in the Netherlands made a startling discovery Sunday. Dutch officers found 4 kilograms of purified cocaine hidden among 20,000 long-stem roses being delivered from Colombia, CBS News reported.
According to the National Prosecutor's Office, the cocaine was divided up into 20-gram cellophane-wrapped packages and placed inside cardboard boxes containing the roses.
Officials discovered 4 kilograms of cocaine hidden among thousands of roses shipped from Colombia to the Netherlands on Sunday. Here, pallets of roses sit at a flower auction in the Netherlands last year.
The shipment of roses, which was intercepted at Amsterdam's Schiphol airport, was timed to arrive before Valentine's Day. Three Dutch suspects have been arrested, SkyNews said. Police searched the suspects' homes and garages in the towns of Liederdorp and Lisse, uncovering a total of 9 kilograms of pure cocaine worth an estimated $1.8 million.
