Castle Czech Republic

Castle in Czech Republic with George's Dragon Skull

Castle in Czech Republic with George's Dragon Skull

This castle in the Czech Republic was fortified and high up on a hill...much walking, except that we did not walk...we splurged on a royal ride in a carriage complete with a crochet hatted horse pulling us. Our party pretended to be a King, Queen, daughter and maid...I was the maid.

What I do remember about this fantastic place where we were given a full scale tour is not only meeting folks from Iowa at the top, but seeing what is claimed to be the actual skull of the dragon slayed by George, the Dragon Slayer. You remember him, of course. There's even a school holiday, St. George's Day, in the UK...so surely almost everyone has heard of St. George.

This skull totally fascinated me. Really...just think, a real, honest-to-goodness dragon skull, slayed by that famous dragon slayer, George. And what amazed me was how much it looked like a crocodile's skull. Oh, well, maybe that's what dragons were after all....crocodiles!
