Caspian Sea Talks

Speaking to reporters in Turkmenistan's embassy here in Tehran, Turkmen Ambassador Ahmed Qurbanov underlined that any talks on the Caspian Sea and its legal regime would be meaningless without the presence of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

He said that during a recent meeting on the Caspian Sea last month, economic issues were discussed by representatives of Russia, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.

The official noted that disarmament is one of the most important matters in the Caspian Sea which would bring peace to the region.

Regarding Iran-Turkmenistan gas pipeline project, the ambassador said that the project is slated to be inaugurated by Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the end of next December.
