Bethanys pockets are full of treasures!
Bethanys pockets must be quite large! Pockets are a necessity for a missionary to Colombia.
Bethany:"I was just emptying the pockets of my CHAIECO(the vest I wear every day at work) and I unloaded a pile of treasures." *1,350 pesos in change(about 50 cents) *A bag of tiny stickers I use for points in classes--on Fridays they can buy prizes with the points they earn during the week *A pencil *Two marbles *a tooth(one of the kids pulled it out a couple weeks ago and gave it to me to keep safe for him) *6 meal tickets to claim my lunches with *A leftover piece of gum I gave as a prize on Moday for saying this weeks memory verse *A razor blade and a piece of glass, both of which I confiscated from angry boys *A list of kids who washed the dishes after lunch yesterday (I've taken to writing down each boy's name as they bring me thire clean dishes after the meal becaues otherwise it's too hard to keep track of who washed them and who didn't) *A crumpled piece of notebook paper I used to take notes on at an unexpetced staff meeting yesterday *A bookmark Yerson gave me yesterday that has a picture of a smiling girl dressed in red and says, "Dream about a tomorrow, a new world will come. Sow on your path a new destiny and the sun will always shine. So I invite you to start dreaming with me." Her pockets are quite large indeed!
I've also had the opportunity to work with these boys in Colombia and see how they are being transformed by school and learning to work on the boy's farm in the mountains. Enjoy Colombian news here.
