Belgium Prime Minister returns to office
Belgium's former prime minister, who failed to resolve a power-sharing rivalry between the country's French and Flemish communities, is to take up the office for a second time.
Yves Leterme was named prime minister by Belgium's King Albert II on Wednesday, following last week's departure of Herman Van Rompuy, the incumbent, to become the first European Union president.
Belgium media had widely tipped Leterme, who stepped down less than a year ago amid a banking scandal of which he was subsequently cleared, to get the job.
