Bahrain World Trade Center hosts international delegation

Bahrain World Trade Center, Bahrain's iconic landmark hosted a group of technical specialists from Technal Group in France, specialising in aluminium systems for buildings. The visit was organised by the Technal Middle East (TME) office in collaboration with BWTC to familiarize the delegation with the innovative architectural design and brilliant technicalities incorporated in this state-of-the-art structure.

The delegation, hosted by BWTC's architects and engineers ATKINS, was given a tour of the building focusing on the three 29 meter integrated wind turbines. The delegation learnt how BWTC is the first in the world to successfully incorporate electricity-generating wind turbines between two commercial tower structures.

The three 29-metre diameter turbines provide 11-15% of the towers' energy requirements and are now set to auto-mode, supplying power to the 50 storey twin office towers. Over a year, these turbines are capable of generating 1,100 to 1,300 MWh of electricity, which could power approximately 250 homes for more than a year. This is expected to eliminate the equivalent of around 55,000 cubic kgC of carbon emissions into the environment per annum.
