106-Year-Old Woman in Muscatine, Iowa

Mrs. Clarence Hermley age: 106 and daughter Sherry

Mrs. Hermley who lives in 9th street in Muscatine, Iowa turned 106 recently. Teddy Roosevelt was president when she was born. Mrs. Hermley still lives at her own home with her daughter, Sherry, and enjoyed telling us details of her life, such as the difficulties she and her husband had when trying to adopt two girls. Her other daughter lives in Texas. She and her husband were older when they started the adoption process and the officials thought they might be too old. Little did those officials guess that Mrs. Hermley would outlive them all!

Mrs. Hermley spoke with loving kindness of her affection for her parents. She was like "this" with her mother, she said as she twisted two fingers together. This devotion and honor for her parents no doubt is partly the reason for her longevity.
